LIFE IS SWEETER

Current trends of choosing a healthier lifestyle and quality diet is on the rise as our lives today are filled with products leaning on the “instant”, “sweetened” and “artificial.” So it is refreshing to find a sweetener that is all natural (no aspartame and no sucralose) and fits the requirement for a healthy and nutritious diet.

SUCHERO is a nutrient-rich, low-glycemic crystalline sweetener that looks, tastes, dissolves and melts almost exactly like sugar, but it is completely natural and unrefined.

SUCHERO has no additives, no preservatives, no chemicals, and it is unbleached and unfiltered.

SUCHERO is the natural sweetener recommended and trusted by leading hospitals and prominent doctors. This means, SUCHERO is an ideal sweetener substitute for the preparation of low GI diets and can be safely used by diabetic patients or patients with high sugar level. When incorporated in low GI diets, SUCHERO can help in the proper management of diabetes, weight control, prevention of heart disease and obesity.

What’s good about SUCHERO is that it can be used as a sweetener for your favorite drinks such as coffee, chocolate, teas, and juices. Its gourmet sweet caramel taste simply perks up your drinks. It also works well as a sugar substitute for your favorite recipes. SUCHERO is the choice for those who want a healthier and natural alternative to feed their sweet tooth cravings. Who needs artificial if you have SUCHERO?

SUCHERO can be used 1:1 as a substitute for cane sugar. It also rapidly dissolves in liquids without residue. Tests show that SUCHERO is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Aside from being a low GI food, SUCHERO also has macronutrients such as potassium and magnesium and micro-nutrients such as zinc and manganese.

In the Philippines, Suchero is available nationwide in leading supermarkets, health food stores, organic stores, and drug stores. Prominent restaurants using SUCHERO are Chateau 1771, Sentro, Sugar Leaf, Via Mare, Sophia’s Mediterranean, Mona Lisa Ristorante and Bistro Filipino. Internationally, SUCHERO is available in selected supermarkets and health food stores in North America, Pacific Islands, and Australasia. Personalized Race Bib Number: =)

Personalized Race Bib Number: =)

Got my favorite number for my race bib. Thanks to Without Limits Philippines and to my Partner Boy “Running Host” Ramos for the Race Kit.  This was my 3rd Marathon since I started  running at fun runs and was my 2nd time as a personal pacer.  First was with my wife at the The Bull Runner Dream Marathon (TBRDM) March 2012 and now with my running buddy (Elementary classmate) Nestor Huerno Jr. a.k.a. “Jhok” both for their 1st Marathons.  We had less than a month preparation for the event, usually Tuesday night with the Hunyango Runners for muscle strengthening/conditioning and Saturday/Sunday for long runs.

workouts with the Hunyango Runners

Every Tuesday Night is a Hunyango night…  family, relatives, friends, friend of friends are welcome to join our session.  Some of our exercises are planks: front, side and back, mountain climbers, squats and other leg and core strengthening.

We (Denz, Jinx, Bave, Jhok, Dadi Mike and me) arrived at the QC Memorial Circle around 3:00 AM. Thanks for the ride Denz! 30 minutes ahead from the Gun Start, I led the warm-up stretching for our group then we proceeded to the starting line.  Jhok, Dadi Mike and I started to run with a slow pace then increased it to 06:00 – 06:30 min/km.  Our target time is sub 5 hours, as a personal pacer I took note of the time for every 5km for us to know whether we are ahead or behind splits.

QCIM 42k Race Route

The new race route for the 42k is much better than last year’s route.  We reached Km 5 at 00:31:05 feeling strong and fresh then 01:03:04 for 10km still doing good.  01:36:05 for 15km. After 18km straight running we did the run/walk 4:1 technique for us to take a little rest. 02:10:07 at 20km, 02:49:33 for 25th km then something came-up… Jhok’s left leg (calves) experienced some cramps, we applied first aid to relieve the pain temporarily.

03:30:50 for 30km and the cramps alternately affected Jhok’s legs. 04:14:47 at 35th km. Because of these cramp episodes our goal time is far from achieving.  We decided to do the power walks for us to atleast have a decent finish time.  I knew the pain was unbearable, but PUSHING him, literally, aside from motivating him was my main focus.  04:56:55 at 40th Km and still the cramps didn’t leave us.

Jump shot pa!

Who’s having cramps again? ;-))

Despite of the pain we manage to smile and jump at the camera (thanks to Rodel Montejo for the nice shot).  Then I saw a Taho vendor along the stretch of Commonwealth and bought 3 cups for us to have more energy (sugar rush)

At the last 200 meters of the race route, we ran to our  limits,  gave our all and finished Strong despite of all what happened to us.  We were able to cross the Finish Line at 05:14:44 amidst  the painful experience along the route.  Salamat po Ama!

RACE REVIEW:

The 4th Quezon City International Marathon was indeed a success.  Its the second cheapest registration fee in the country for a Full Marathon.  The Race Route is much better than the previous QCIM’s. Hydration Station is strategically placed and the banana as well.  Marshals and Medics are were present in key areas of the race, other marshals were cheering and boosting the morale of the runners.  Photographers are there to captured your precious moments during the race.  Loot bags not that exciting to have.  Finishers shirt design is cool! Congratulation to Without Limits Philippines for making this possible.
